Qinetics Solutions Berhad (Qinetics), the pioneer and leading domain name Registry solution in Asia has been granted the Registry Service Outsourcing by .cd Registry. The ‘.cd’ is the country code domain name for The Democratic Republic of Congo.

KUALA LUMPUR — March 16, 2006 — Qinetics Solutions Berhad, a leading provider of business-to-business (B2B) outsourced registration services for domain names and enterprise solutions, today announced that it has been appointed as the Registry Service Outsourcing provider by the .cd Registry. The ‘cd’ is the country code top level domain (ccTLD) of The Democractic Republic of Congo. Under the appointment, Qinetics will provision, manage and operate the registry of .cd domain names on the revenue sharing basis for a period of 5 years.
With the engagement of Qinetics to be Registry Service Outsourcing provider, the Registry of ‘.cd’ is able jump-start their adoption of standard-based EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol) Shared Registry System (SRS). The hosted Registry model provides the Registry with the full-fledge registry functionalities and the highest standard of performance quality, at a fraction of cost.
In addition, the .cd Registry is able to leverage on Qinetics’ network of channels to market the ccTLDs to Qinetics’ 800 resellers worldwide. Amongst them are domain name Registrars, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Hosting Service Providers (HSPs), Portals and e-commerce solution providers.
The provision of Registry Service Outsourcing is based on Qinetics’ RegistryASP Shared Registry-Registrar System (SRS) suite, which is a software infrastructure that is 100 percent homegrown and developed in Malaysia. Qinetics is the pioneer in Asia for SRS solution. The appointment of Registry Service Outsourcing for the .cd domain has enhanced Qinetics’ reputation as a global Registry service and solution player in this niche industry. Qinetics has earlier secured the development and maintenance of .hk Registry system by the Hong Kong government in 2005.

The growth rate for the top ccTLDs has held steady at 2 percent per month over the past 18 months, with rates rising 23 percent overall in the past year. The three key factors that influence this surge in demand are the rising of Internet usage worldwide, increase in local language content and innovative distribution strategies.
